The Board of Education will meet on Monday, April 20, at 5:30 p.m. at the Gaston County Schools Central Office, 943 Osceola Street, Gastonia. The public is invited to attend. The Board of Education approved the 2026-27 school calendar. The calendar was adopted during the board meeting on December 15, 2025, and revised March 16, 2026, to change the optional teacher workday from June 1, 2027, to August 4, 2026. SUN Bucks is a program from the U.S. Department of Agriculture that helps families buy groceries during the summer months when school is out. Eligible families will receive a one-time payment of $120 per child on a debit-like card. The card can be used to purchase nutritious food during the summer months when schools are out.
